Figio was great!

I had a good time! Tonight’s speaker was Donald Chittick! Talked about ancient man. Very very interesting stuff. Creation Compass is his website. It’s hard to write much about what you’re still digesting!

Ze Parma Tour of Ze Homes

author Posted by: BenjieP on date Sep 27th, 2007 | filed Filed under: Events

Yesterday evening, unexpectedly as always, Gwen showed up at the front door(and in the hallway by the time I got there) with three items in her hands:

  1. A piece of poster board
  2. A piece of paper with a poster design
  3. A Paper holding the addresses for all participants in the tour of homes(the confidential file!)

The first two were for mom, however the third one was for me! This is the third year in a row for tour of homes :D It’s kinda hard to believe it’s that time of year again… Tour of homes alway catches me by surprise. :P

What is the tour of homes? Well it’s a thing in parma that’s been going for about three years now to benefit the sunshine cupboard. The charge is $10 a person, and they view 8 homes(this year). It’s a self-guided tour with a map, and directions to each home.

What exactly do I do? Well, I’m the ticket designer guy. I make the pamplet with driving directions, tickets, introduction and sponsors.

The tour of homes actually starts in early November, but Gwen’s trying to get this stuff done by October 1st. Should be interesting!

Yeah, that’s all.

The Dog’s afraid of guns!

author Posted by: BenjieP on date Sep 25th, 2007 | filed Filed under: Everyday stuff

Morty(as I have named him) Seems to be deathly afraid of guns. seeing as, we don’t know who his original owners are, it makes you kindof wonder!

I decided I might as well train him to fetch pigeons as training for fetching ducks. Well, he’s not too fond of that. Even BB guns and Air Softs he’ll run away from. It’s not like we’ve shot him even with rubber bands!

Sily dog….

Goodness Gracious!

Good morning everybody! I woke up at 10:00. Let me tell you, I’m nicely rested.

Hmmm what to write about? I need a haircut. I’m not sure but I don’t *think* I wanna look like a hippy all winter really! Or even a… Skateboarder!

Well, today’s saturday. You know what that means? Something very special. :D Did you know that every saturday is almost totally different from the previous one? It’s true. ^_^ It’s sortof a law of change :P Every saturday(sunday, monday, tuesday, wednesday,t hurday, friday) is different from the previous saturday(sunday, monday, tuesday, wednesday, thursday, friday). Cool huh? :D

Did I mention that Rebecca got a truck? Yep she did. It’s not new but it works. :D Ok so it’s not really a truck, it’s a toyota PICKUP. Big difference. :P

Andy hasn’t been by but once this week. He wasn’t feeling good that time either. Hope he’s alright! He needs prayer though. :)

You know what? Mary and Isaac went all the way to wear the brown stuff grows(well, I guess it’s green, then red, then green…), and didn’t bring any home!! NO COFFEE! The most haitian things they brought home was gourdes(pronounce:goods). The bills and coins are funky. Almost as funky as their Tap Taps. Ok not quite… :D

I’m not sure what else to write about. BYE!

They’re Home

Yup, Mary and Isaac are home now! Stayed u until 2AM last night just talking. Dad and I went to boise in the afternoon and shopped until we went to the airport at about 10:45 to pick them up.

All shopping carts are unable to continue in a straight line without assistance That’s the conclusion I’ve come to. Try letting a shopping cart go and, without fail, they always slant to one side or the other!

You know, the schedule said that their flight would be comming in at 10:53. What time did it come in? Well, it came in about 10 minutes late. What time did we see them? About 10 minutes after 10 minutes late! So, we waited in the airport for a while.

We went shopping for a shock collar for Morty yesterday, but didn’t find much. I guess he’s probably happy :P

OK I better get going! I’ll try to update soon…

Unfortunate Event

author Posted by: BenjieP on date Sep 7th, 2007 | filed Filed under: Uncategorized

I had been planning on updating my blog, but hadn’t had anything to say. I guess now I have something to say.

A car wreck just happened out front. I guess the higway has been getting busier. 2 wrecks this year right on the corner. Rachel game downstairs and said she thought she heard a long skreetch of brakes and then a tumble of a car. I thought maybe she just imagined it. a few minutes later she decided we should go out there and check it out, so I grabbed the flashlight and we went out there.

To our surprise, an SUV was pulling in to the ditch slowly, and there were headlights of a car in the neighbors fence. Rachel asked should we go and check it out, and I thought yes so I walked over there with our flashlight. Another SUV pulled in to the neighbors driveway and asked what was happening “I’m not sure” I said and continued over to where Mr. Seward(I later found out) was over there on his cell phone calling it in. “Does that flashlight work?” he said. “Yeah” I replied. He grabbed it and looked in the car after saying “there’s nobody in the car”. I looked inside while he looked at the licensing and stuff.

After looking around for a minute, I spied some sunglasses and a cap on the other side of the car. They were somewhere close. Mr. Seward gave me back the flashlight, and just as the Police showed up, I turned around and there was a body. “There!” I said. Mr. Seward and I looked over there and I asked “is he alive?” “I think he’s gone…” was the reply.

The Policeman came over there “Benjie get your gloves!” he said to the other policeman. Mr. Seward and I both walked away and stood at the back of the car. “That’s really too bad…” he kept on saying. The man didn’t appear to be breathing. He had either been thrown from the car, or had gotten out from the car, tried to walk and fallen down. After that, Mr. Seward got in his car and left. I walked back to the fence where Rachel was still watching. “Are they ok?” she asked. “No, I think he’s dead” I replied. “Dead?” “We looked at him and he doesn’t seem to be breathing”. The ambulance pulled up just as I climbed through the fence. Flashers and sirens everywhere.

Death can come on any of us so suddenly. It’s worthwhile to be prepared.

And they’re off!

Well, I got up at like 5 and we all went down to the airport to see Isaac and Mary off. It turned out that they were not in fact leaving at 10, they would be arriving in Ft. Lotterdale at 10PM and leaving here at 7:30AM! So, everybody was up pretty early.

When we got down there, apearantly the bag tha Mary brought was 2 inches larger than the amount(even though they said on the phone it’d be fine!). But they let it go anyways. We teased her beforetimes it was a body bag. It would seriously hold a person comfortably!

Once they got their bags checked in, we all went and waited around until the time they needed to go through security. They got through pretty easily. about 5 minutes and without a hitch. They’ll be waiting in Ft. Lotterdale for 22 hours though! A LONG time!

So, once we got finished with that, Dad and I went over to Winco and got some stuff, then to Cash and Carry. We went in to the freezer and cash and carry to look and see what they had and it was COLD(imagine that! A COLD freezer!!), probably -30. I’m telling you, it was well bellow freezing! In about a minute we were really ready to be out of there!

After Cash and Carry, we went to the Kopper Kitchen and had breakfast(Rebecca and Rachel work there). Mom and Sarah were waiting there(they’d ridden up with Rebecca and Rachel).

After breakfast, we asked Rebecca and then took her car home because it has more seats than the van(huh??). Why we haven’t put the seats in the van yet is beyond me.

We took the “scenic” route home. It was long but nice. I’m glad to be home(nap? Yeah? yes!!!!). It’ll be quiet without Mary and Isaac….

Well, I woke up this morning at like 10. Kinda late but I was still tired! I’d stayed up until 12 though. Anyways, This morning The power was out AGAIN and guess what happened? A squirell chewed through the wires on the main transformer in town and blew the transformer! LOL So yeah, When I tried putting through some laundry this morning, the thing wouldn’t start!

Mary and Isaac are Leaving tomorrow morning! Prayers would be most apreciated for the trip. Their flight leaves at 10:00 AM. I don’t know if all of us are going down there or not.

Grandma and Grandpa got here yesterday and came over today. Tomorrow they’re gonna go down to the airport to see Mary and Isaac off, then go to the kopper kitchen to eat and get served by Rebecca and Rachel.

Does this post sound muddled to you?
